Unity Cup 2025: After playing as a substitute in the match against Ghana, Ahmed Musa departs from Super Eagles camp

Captain of the Super Eagles, Ahmed Musa, has departed from the team’s camp for the Unity Cup in London for personal reasons.

Musa has only just returned to the national team for the first time since last year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Following the AFCON, the winger ceased playing for Sivasspor due to his lack of fitness, which also prevented him from playing for Nigeria.

Last October, Musa signed with Kano Pillars in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), and he has been a regular player for them since that time.

In 23 appearances for the former NPFL champions, he netted 10 goals and recorded two assists.

The new head coach of the Eagles invited him to participate in the tournament in the UK, where he played in the 2-1 victory against Ghana on Wednesday.

Musa was substituted in during the 62nd minute and delivered a respectable performance.

Nigeria will face Jamaica in the Unity Cup final after their triumph against the Black Stars, but the former CSKA Moscow star will not be present for the match.
