Fabian Benjamin, a spokesperson for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), released a statement announcing the publication of the initial results.According to the board, the document includes national rankings, candidate photos, and other security information needed for postsecondary schools to conduct admissions.
The message partially states, “Today, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, the 2026 UTME Original Result Slip will be available for printing.”
The original result slip is one of the formal documents that universities and polytechnics require for post-UTME screening and admission consideration, according to JAMB.Candidates were encouraged by JAMB to thoroughly check the information on their result slips as soon as they were printed and to keep copies for future admission-related needs.
It is anticipated that the result slips’ release will make post-UTME registration and other admissions procedures easier for applicants hoping to be accepted into postsecondary schools for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Admissions timeline
According to PREMIUM TIMES, JAMB and the leaders of higher education institutions have reached an agreement on certain deadlines for the completion of the 2026–2027 admissions process.
Public universities must complete their admissions procedures by October 31st, according to a decision made by the presidents of institutions during the annual policy meeting in May.

The meeting also decided that other postsecondary schools must finish their admissions processes by December 31st, while private universities have until November 30th to do so.
JAMB issued a warning that any institution will lose access to candidates on the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) if admissions were not completed within the allotted time.
A four-week grace period for candidates to accept or reject admission offers was also issued by the board.
It further said that, at the institution’s request, any admissions that were not accepted within the allotted time would be removed.
