The Nigeria Union of Teachers’ ongoing statewide protest over the school kidnappings in Oyo State got a lot of traction on Tuesday as some schools in Bayelsa State apparently joined the large-scale demonstration.
Videos that went viral on social media included teachers and students in Bayelsa State marching, singing songs of unity, and calling for the quick release of teachers and kids who were being held by terrorists.
In a video posted on Facebook by Golden Agagowei, students from Community Primary School, Isoni in the Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State were seen lining up in their blue uniforms outside of their classrooms. “Federal Government, release our students!” was chanted by the young children. Release our teachers, Federal Government!
