Wife: Namdi Kanu battled “darker forces” than Nelson Mandela

The wife of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Uchechi, has stated that her husband is contending with forces that are more formidable than those confronted by Nelson Mandela in South Africa. She strongly asserted that Kanu is not a terrorist, but instead stands as Africa’s most significant freedom fighter. In a post shared on X, she highlighted the solidarity of Igbo youths and students with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. She further described him as the leader of millions of Biafrans globally who are united under the IPOB banner. Uchechi acknowledged that the IPOB leader is not flawless, as no human being is, yet she stressed that he deeply cares for his people, who in turn love him and are prepared to defend him until their final moments. She elaborated that while Nelson Mandela fought in the apartheid arena against entities that were capable of reason despite their brutality, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is battling forces that are considerably more obscure and sinister. Kanu is currently serving a life sentence at the Sokoto Custodial Centre following his conviction by Justice James Omotosho of the Abuja Federal High Court on terrorism-related charges connected to his advocacy for the sovereign state of Biafra.
