Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has revealed that he is experiencing insomnia due to the necessity of carrying out projects in the capital city and surrounding communities.
Wike revealed that former FCT Senator Philip Aduda and Christopher Maikalangu, the chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), have been pressuring him to implement development projects throughout the capital and its satellite towns. During the flag-off of the dualization and reconstruction of Karu Road, from Karu Interchange to Customs Clinic Junction, as well as other Karu township roads, the minister gave a speech on Wednesday.
Wike made fun of FCT Senator Ireti Kingibe by claiming that building relationships rather than “grammar” is what is needed to persuade the government to fund development projects.
Wike asserts that “you relate with your people well when you have the chance to do so.” It’s relationships with people, not grammar, which doesn’t lead to projects. I’m not saying that no one is inviting me because I’m a senator. We are discussing how to provide the people with dividends from democracy. Last night, Senator Philip Aduda, who has been a representative of the people, approached me and said, “Sir, this is an opportunity.”
Once you complete this Karu dualization, you will be able to access the entire Karu by joining a few other minor roads. I therefore gave in to him because I know he speaks well of his people and has good intentions for them.
It is now your turn, Karu residents, and we will ensure that you receive the benefits to which you are legally entitled. These additional roads have been added to the ones we are currently working on.
Wike pledged that the FCT Administration would rebuild the NIA Quarters Road, the Pasi Road, the Primus Hospital Road, the Customs Clinic Junction to CBN Quarter Junction, and the Customs Clinic Junction to EFCC right away.
According to the minister, the roads will increase economic activity and business in the Karu area.
“Business opportunities will thrive here,” he continued. In addition to constructing these roads, we will also install street lights, and I have given the contractor ten months to finish them.
“Reviving people’s hope is the core of the Renewed Hope Agenda. Since this is one of the projects we have planned that our people must enjoy during Mr. President’s third year in office, I will be visiting this location frequently to inspect these projects. Let the city that everyone is talking about be Karu.
After these projects were completed, Wike urged citizens to keep Maikalangu and Tinubu in mind during elections.
Now that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s government and the Renewed Hope Agenda are keeping their end of the bargain, I hope that when the time comes, we will do the same.
