Nigerian musician Damini Ogulu, better known by his stage as Burna Boy, has broken the tie with his colleague Tems to become the African artist with the most entries in the Billboard U.S. Hot 100.
Burna Boy and Shakira collaborated on the official World Cup song, “Dai Dai,” this week, earning Burna Boy a new entry on the chart. Previously, the two were deadlocked at eight entries each.
With the song’s debut at number 75, Burna Boy’s total reached nine, the highest of any African.
After Burna Boy and Shakira sang the song at the World Cup Opening Ceremony, Dai Dai got new momentum.
Additionally, Burna Boy is the first African musician to have at least one song on the Billboard Hot 100 for six years in a row.
Loved By You (2021), Last Last (2022), Sittin’ On Top of the World and Talibans II (2023), Just Like Me and We Pray (2024), WGFT (2025), and Only You and Dai Dai (2026) are some of his submissions over the years.
