The Taraba State Police Command, under Commissioner Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimeyin, has announced enhanced security measures to protect residents throughout the holiday season. Acting spokesperson Victor Mshelizah detailed plans for increased patrols and intelligence operations in high-traffic areas like highways, markets, and religious centers to deter crime. In line with national directives from the Inspector-General of Police, the command has also imposed an immediate ban on the sale and use of firecrackers to prevent fires, noise pollution, and criminal exploitation. Residents are advised to avoid traveling at night, seek official permission for large events, and remain alert to their surroundings. The police emphasized that public cooperation is essential and warned that anyone violating the firecracker ban will face prosecution.
