Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, presented the 2026 budget of N1.368 trillion to the State House of Assembly, stating that it focuses on completing major projects and expanding development.
According to his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the budget allocates 68% (N934.6 billion) to capital spending and 32% (N433.4 billion) to recurrent spending, marking one of the state’s highest capital allocations.
Governor Yusuf highlighted the top three sectors: Education receives the largest share with N405.3 billion, followed by Infrastructure with N346.2 billion, and Health with N212.2 billion.
He explained that these allocations show his commitment to investing significantly in human capital, protecting the welfare of the people, and building a physical foundation for sustained growth.
The Governor confirmed that other key areas like Agriculture, Security, Commerce, Water, Environment, Tourism, Women and Youth Development, and support for People With Special Needs were also included.
Governor Yusuf described the budget as a bold yet realistic plan that meets the needs of citizens and aims to create a stronger and more prosperous Kano. He urged the lawmakers to approve the bill quickly, emphasizing that their cooperation is vital for turning the proposals into actual projects and services.
