Alhaji Munnir Haidara, the Chairman of the Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area in Zamfara State, has accused the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman in the area, Sadiq Chiroma, of engaging in anti-party activities well before his official switch to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement released Sunday following Chiroma’s defection, Haidara alleged that the former PDP chairman had been actively damaging the party leading up to the most recent state assembly bye-election.
He claimed that Chiroma was frequently observed attending confidential meetings with APC stakeholders during and after the election, characterizing these actions as suspicious and in violation of the PDP’s constitution.
Haidara further accused Chiroma of disclosing sensitive party information and openly working to sabotage the PDP’s electoral success. He also suggested that Chiroma’s influence was responsible for the subsequent defection of Mohammed Lawal Kurya Madaro, the party’s former assembly candidate in the bye-election.
According to Haidara, the PDP leadership at the local level was already cognizant of Chiroma’s alleged misconduct prior to his formal departure.
The LGA Chairman reaffirmed the PDP’s continued support for Governor Dauda Lawal, commending the administration for its “people-oriented projects” in Kaura-Namoda and calling on residents to keep supporting the government’s initiatives in the region.
While wishing the former chairman success in his new political affiliation, Haidara commented that Chiroma would ultimately “reap what he sowed” as a result of his defection.
