Esteban Andrada, the Real Zaragoza goalkeeper, received a 13-match suspension from the Spanish Football Federation for acting violently during a recent league game.
After receiving his marching order for receiving two yellow cards during Sunday night’s Spanish second division clash against CD Huesca, the Argentina goalie assaulted a rival player.
The ban consists of a one-match suspension for the red card he received and a 12-match miss for violent behavior.
Jorge Pulido, the captain of Huesca, was attacked by Andrada, who then punched him in the face, sparking a large-scale altercation.After the game, the 35-year-old goalie expressed regret for his behavior and pledged to take responsibility for it.
“To be honest, I sincerely apologize for what transpired; it’s not a good image for the club, the supporters, and especially not for a professional like myself.” I’m really sorry.
“I’ve only had one red card in my career, and that was for a handball outside the penalty area. Since Jorge Pulido and I work together, I also want to apologize to him because, to be honest, I was at fault. I lost my concentration at that point, and I’m here for whatever repercussions the league may impose.
The relegation-threatened Real Zaragoza also said that the former FC Monterrey of Mexico goalkeeper, who played in the FIFA Club World Cup in 2025, will face appropriate disciplinary action.
