Kebbi State Government has warned intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj against misconduct, stating that sanctions will be applied to violators during the exercise and after their return to Nigeria.
At the opening of committees established to supervise different facets of the pilgrimage, Faruk Aliyu Yaro Enabo, Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, issued the warning.
According to Enabo, the committees were established to guarantee efficient Hajj operations coordination and uphold pilgrims’ discipline in both Saudi Arabia and Nigeria.
He clarified that the state Grand Qadi, Khalifah Mukhtar Usman, serves as the chair of the disciplinary committee, which is in charge of enforcing appropriate behavior and addressing instances of misconduct.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Muhammad Hadeija, will serve as the chair of the security subcommittee, which will supervise security plans prior to departure, during travel, and during the pilgrims’ stay.
To guarantee a successful exercise, Enabo asked stakeholders to maintain openness and professionalism in the performance of their responsibilities.
Speaking as well, Ahmad Ja’afar Jega, the Amirul Hajj and Head of Government Delegation, urged committee members to fulfill their duties in accordance with established protocols.
He emphasized that in order to guarantee a trouble-free pilgrimage, cooperation with the Pilgrims Welfare Agency is essential.
In the meantime, the state government has started immunizing prospective pilgrims, stating that vaccination is a prerequisite for entry into Saudi Arabia.
