The “City Boy” movement, a pro-President Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027 reelection group, failed to acquire traction in Nigeria’s southeast, according to Aloy Ejimakor, counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Ejimakor stated in a statement posted on X on Thursday that his research revealed the movement’s difficulties as a result of many young people in the area’s general lack of interest in electoral politics.
He claims that as long as Nnamdi Kanu is incarcerated in Sokoto, a sizable portion of Igbo youths will not participate in any general elections.
According to my research, the City Boys movement in the Southeast swiftly failed because a sizable majority of Igbo youths are uninterested in any general elections that will take place while Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is still incarcerated, Ejimakor stated.
He went on to say that Kanu’s ongoing imprisonment has taken center stage in influencing regional politics.
He commented, “That is the #BigElephant in the room for them & for now.”
Remember that Obinna Iyiegbu, sometimes known as Obi Cubana, was a well-known hotelier and businessman who was designated as the Southeast Coordinator of the “City Boy” movement.
According to the DAILY POST, the movement’s outings in Imo State were unsuccessful.
