46 Togo, Burkina Faso, and other illegal immigrants were detained in Ogun [VIDEO]

Together with agents from the Department of State Services, DSS, and Nigerian Immigration Services, Nigerian Army forces have detained at least forty-six alleged illegal immigrants living in Ogun State.

The arrest was made in response to actionable intelligence, according to a statement released on Sunday by Idereghi Samuel Akari, Assistant Director Army Public Relations of the 35 Artillery Brigade.

He claimed that during a targeted security operation that started on June 11, 2026, the suspects were apprehended at various locations in Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu Ilese, and the adjacent areas.

The people had allegedly been living in the state for almost six months without proper immigration documents, according to preliminary investigations.

The suspects claimed during questioning to be employees and merchants connected to QNet, an online marketplace that sells a variety of goods.

Eighteen Burkina Faso citizens, twenty-three Côte d’Ivoire citizens, four Togo citizens, and one Senegalese citizen make up the arrested individuals. There are ten ladies and thirty-six males among them.

The suspects have been turned over to the Nigeria Immigration Service, NIS, Ogun State Command for additional “investigation and appropriate administrative action in accordance with extant laws,” according to the statement.
