Leon and Orion Football Club have claimed the title in the Ikorodu division as the qualifying round of the 2025 Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer tournament progresses across all five divisions of Lagos.
Leon & Orion FC emerged victorious in a tough match against New Generation Football Club, winning 6-3 in the final held over the weekend. They claimed a prize of N500,000 as the winners of the qualifiers in Ikorodu.
Both finalists ensured their places in the main tournament, while Evergrin Football Club claimed the final automatic qualification spot after edging out Marine Boys Football Club in the third-place match.
Leon and Orion FC, the champions and the side with the highest number of goals scored, received N50,000 each. Additionally, Oluwafemi Famakinwa, the top scorer of the Ikorodu divisional qualifiers, was awarded a cash prize of N50,000.
In eight matches of the OGA division, a total of 94 goals were recorded.
Akin Odunsi Eshinlokun, the Program Manager, voiced his contentment regarding the caliber of teams and the soccer artistry exhibited by players in the Ikorodu qualifiers.
From May 24 to 30, the qualifying tournament will proceed in Epe, featuring eight teams vying for spots.
Later this year, sixteen teams from the five divisions in Lagos will compete in the main event.
As three teams will qualify from each division, the overall best loser will secure the last remaining spot after the divisional qualifiers conclude.
