At the ongoing National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Abayomi Adeleye has secured Ekiti State’s first medal by winning bronze in the weightlifting 55kg category.
In discussing the accomplishment, he conveyed his happiness about securing the medal and expressed hope that it would motivate his fellow teammates to achieve medal victories for Ekiti State.
The bronze medal is a good omen. It is a proof that Ekiti State is not in Ogun State for a jamboree. I urge our athletes to emulate Adeleye by making podium appearances in their respective events.
“On our part, we shall do everything possible to motivate them to win,” she said.
Meanwhile, Ekiti state contingent also joined other states of the Federation in the colourful official opening ceremony which was held at the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta on Sunday.
