Chelsea intensifies attempts to secure Hugo Ekitike

Chelsea have accelerated their efforts to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.

Ekitike joined Frankfurt on a permanent transfer from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

The 22-year-old netted 15 goals and registered eight assists in 33 appearances for the Bundesliga side last season.

As a result, Ekitike has attracted interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

Both Premier League clubs are believed to have made initial enquiries over a proposed bid for Ekitike’s signature.

However, according to L’Equipe, Chelsea have attempted to steal a march on their Premier League rivals by accelerating their efforts to sign the attacker in the :past few hours.’

The report added that the Frenchman is considering his future over his options after being ruled out of France’s European Under-21 Championship campaign with a back injury.

Ekitike’s current contract in Frankfurt will expire in June 2029.

This is coming after Chelsea announced the signing of Dario Essugo from Sporting CP.
