Giovanni van Bronckhorst, a former captain of the Netherlands, has been named the new manager of Feyenoord, returning to the team following a successful first stint.
Less than two weeks after the new management, led by technical director Davy Rigaux and general manager Robert Eenhoorn, fired Robin van Persie, Feyenoord acknowledged the news on Tuesday.
During his tenure as Feyenoord’s manager from 2015 to 2019, Van Bronckhorst ended Rotterdam’s infamous 18-year title drought by winning the Eredivisie in 2017.
Van Bronckhorst, 51, most recently assisted Arne Slot, the former manager of Liverpool. The former left-back managed Besiktas, Rangers FC, and Guangzhou R&F before coming to Merseyside.
