The return of Boko Haram in the North-East, especially in Borno State, is a result of the militants’ increased attempts to destabilize the Sahel states of Nigeria, Mali, Burkina-Faso, and Niger Republic, according to Defense Minister Mohammed Badaru.

The minister made this statement while on a two-day working tour to military facilities, such as the Air Force Institute of Technology in Kaduna State and the Nigerian Defence Academy, where he spoke with top officials and observed ongoing development projects.
Shortly after touring military installations, the minister spoke to reporters and emphasized the value of both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies in tackling the nation’s security issues.
Non-kinetic strategies concentrate on resolving underlying problems and pacifying communities, whereas kinetic strategies use military force.
