The investigation into the circumstances surrounding a viral video showing a young woman discovered dead with her hands bound in a hotel room in the Gwarinpa neighborhood of the capital city has begun by the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT, Police Command.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the command’s public relations officer, Josephine Adeh, identified the woman as Aladi Offikwu Johnson from Benue State and acknowledged that the command was aware of the viral video.
She stated that in order to determine the incident’s underlying cause, Commissioner of Police Ajao S. Adewale has mandated a comprehensive inquiry.
According to the statement, preliminary investigation into the incident revealed that the victim checked into a hotel located at 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, on June 16, 2025 with an unidentified man, who exited the facility without the young lady.
She said a hotel staff discovered the lady unconscious during routine service rounds, leading to the involvement of the police.
“The Commissioner of Police asks the public to maintain composure and let the Police conduct a thorough investigation while the investigation is ongoing,” she said.
According to the DAILY POST, the country’s capital has seen a number of these events.
Most of the time, those who are accused of being ritualists and carrying out the horrible deed manage to get away with it.
