How has NAAPE handled the difficulties, various legislative changes, and other events that have occurred within the aviation ecosystem during the past 40 years?These 40 years have been tough, full of ups and downs. I am NAAPE’s thirteenth president. From a single branch of the now-defunct Nigeria Airways to over ten branches, we have experienced consistent development and have been able to better the lot of our members. Even if we still have problems with the airlines, the majority of them still don’t grasp what unions are all about. Some of them continue to oppose unionization for their members. We consider that to be a position of ignorance.
Numerous young engineers and pilots have voiced their dissatisfaction over unemployment. Is this something that worries NAAPE? In addition, how are you responding to airlines that forbid their employees from joining your union?We are concerned about young engineers and pilots who lack work chances since, even if they would like to join, they are unable to do so because they lack employment and are unable to pay the subscription price. The fact that airlines are stealing from one another without proper training presents a problem for us. In contrast to the days of Nigerian Airways, when individuals were trained to become pilots and engineers, you must train yourself if you want to be a pilot or an engineer. That isn’t done anymore.
