The All Progressives Congress (APC) members who switched to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) were formally welcomed by Kano State Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, who described the move as a major boost to the party’s strength, unity, and expanding influence throughout the state.
At the Deputy Governor’s office on Sunday, the defectors, under the leadership of Malam Bala Ladani Gwarzo, made their decision public.
The new members indicated in a statement released by Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, the spokesperson for the Deputy Governor, that they made the decision because of the outstanding accomplishments made during the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The announcement further revealed that the defectors were selected from nearby local governments and ten wards within the Gwarzo Local Government Area.
Malam Bala Ladani, who spoke on behalf of the group, stated that Governor Yusuf’s commitment to people-oriented leadership was the primary factor in their decision.
He told the Deputy Governor that they were prepared to work at all levels to support the NNPP’s success and vowed their allegiance to the party.
Gwarzo assured the new members that their efforts would fortify the party’s grassroots organization and urged them to be firm and dedicated to the NNPP’s principles.
He asked them to view their defection as a group endeavor to improve the lives of Kano State residents rather than merely a political decision.
Speaking as well, Alhaji Abdulkadir Getso, the NNPP leader in Gwarzo Local Government, stated that more defectors were anticipated to join the party shortly and that a number of well-known individuals were already in discussions with interested parties about switching to the NNPP.
Dr. Mani Tsoho, the Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government, promised the new members during his speech that they will be treated equally and fully integrated with the rest of the party.
He expressed optimism that the NNPP will continue to win significant victories and praised party stakeholders for their persistent efforts to recruit new members.
