Katsina United was fined N9 million by the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for violating the league’s Framework and Rules on Saturday, November 8, at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium during their week 12 encounter against Barau FC. Shortly after Orji Kalu of Barau FC scored in the 69th minute to tie the score at 1-1, angry spectators who were thought to be Katsina United supporters stormed the field. 00:05 03:11 10 seconds Some of the irate spectators raced onto the field, while others threw hazardous objects at the visitors, injuring Nana Abraham’s neck.The league organizers judged Katsina United guilty of several offenses related to crowd misconduct and inadequate security yesterday in a summary jurisdiction. As a result, Katsina United was fined N1 million each for hurling objects onto the field, neglecting to ensure that their supporters behaved appropriately, and bringing the game into disrepute, for a total of N3 million.They have also been fined N2 million for not providing sufficient and effective security, N2 million each for treating injuries and damaging the away team’s buses, and N4 million for holding the away team and match officials hostage for hours after the game. In addition to the sanctions, Katsina Utd will play all of their upcoming home games behind closed doors at New Jos Township Stadium. Additionally, the NPFL issued a second statement yesterday clarifying that “the report of a violent attack to the extent of slitting the throat of a player, Nana Abraham, of Barau FC was utterly false.”The game was paused for a few minutes when the player was injured by an object thrown from the stands and received treatment on the field, according to the NPFL statement. Katsina United has 48 hours from the notice date to file an appeal of the sanctions. The reports of violence, however, have been rejected by Katsina United as “false, misleading, and entirely unfounded.” The club reports that there were no unpleasant incidents prior to, during, or following the NPFL week 12 game.
