The Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, asserted that reports of a current “Christian genocide” in Nigeria are an intentional effort to undermine Shariah law and encourage fear of Islam (Islamophobia).
In a message posted on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, Gumi claimed that the idea of Christian persecution is being advanced by specific organizations to weaken Islam and depict Muslims as violent radicals.
He stated: “Once the confusion has cleared. The supposed ‘Christian genocide’ in Nigeria revolves entirely around a carefully designed scheme to attack the Shariah Law and promote Islamophobia.”
