The Kebbi State House of Assembly received a petition alleging gross misconduct against Adamu Aliyu Liba, the Chairman of Maiyama Local Government.
The Maiyama Local Government Progressive Union submitted the petition, which was read by Speaker Mohammed Usman Zuru during Wednesday’s session, detailing several claims against the chairman.
The petitioners alleged that Liba converted an 18-seater Toyota bus belonging to the council for his own use. He was also accused of not finishing the electricity project running from Maiyama to Andarai, despite reportedly paying the contractor in full.
Further claims included the alleged sale of two caterpillar machines and a fill-loader owned by the local government, and the reported unauthorized sale of nearly all plots at the Dadin Kowa Market, supposedly done with his associates.
Following the reading of the petition, the Speaker sent the matter to the House Committee on Public Petitions, headed by Chief Whip Muhammad Sani Garba Tiggi, directing them to investigate and report back to the House next week for necessary legislative action.
