Adolphous Ude, a public affairs analyst and member of the African Democratic Congress, has challenged Minister of Works David Umahi’s claim that the South-East supports the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a recent statement, Ude argued that the region continues to suffer from marginalization and lacks representation in the current government’s major initiatives. He specifically highlighted that the South-East has been left out of significant national infrastructure developments, such as the Lagos–Calabar and Sokoto–Badagry highways. Ude further questioned what specific grievances or needs of the Igbo people have been addressed, noting that the reality on the ground contradicts the Minister’s positive assessment. He pointed out the poor state of local road projects, such as the Ninth Mile–Enugu–Makurdi Highway, which remains unfinished nearly two years after it was announced. These remarks serve as a direct rebuttal to Umahi’s recent assertions that the South-East is fully integrated and content with the President’s leadership.
