The Nigerian Army has announced a comprehensive overhaul of its training programs and educational curricula starting next year to create a more versatile and professional force. During a conference in Lagos, Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu explained that these reforms will prioritize the Special Forces and Army Aviation sectors while enhancing expertise in intelligence, cyber operations, and surveillance. The initiative, coordinated by Army Headquarters, aims to implement mission-oriented exercises that reflect the country’s increasingly complex security environment. Alongside these operational changes, the Army leadership pledged to improve troop welfare by addressing barracks accommodation shortages, accelerating housing projects, and ensuring post-service residential options for retirees.
