Kenneth Okonkwo, a former Labour Party chieftain, has stated that President Bola Tinubu can only be overthrown in 2027 by a coalition.
According to Naija News, Okonkwo stated that the current All Progressives Congress cannot be overthrown in 2027 by the main opposition parties, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP).

The Nollywood icon referred to LP under Julius Abure as the APC’s housemaid and PDP as the APC’s servant of servants in an interview with Arise News on Monday.

“They cannot win a Tinubu if they do not unite. Therefore, don’t hold the ruling party responsible if they are unable to cooperate. Under Abure, LP serves as the APC’s housemaid, while PDP is now a servant of servants.

Therefore, if the APC used inducement to crush the opposition, you wouldn’t blame them. However, you would accuse the APC of failing to provide Nigerians with effective governance,” he said.

The former head of the APC emphasized that President Tinubu can only be overthrown by a coalition. Okonkwo contended that Tinubu shouldn’t be permitted to serve a second term because his administration was “incomparably bad.”

The Nollywood icon recommended holding an open primary election once the coalition was constituted. He asserts that the winner of the primary, whether from the North or the South, must consent to serve Tinubu for just four years.

In 2027, it is a different ball game, because we are now in the half of the match. If you say you want to bring another Southerner who is not Tinubu to come in, the North would say he is going to spend eight years, that would still breach the agreement. Now that Tinubu is incomparably bad, would you say you would give him another four years and we would continue to sink according to World Bank report, into further poverty and misery? If you get a Northerner, who would commence the rule in the middle of the game, would you say that if he spends eight years, it will not be an injustice? It will.

“Let there be an open primary election in a coalition between North and South, whoever wins such, agree to do four years. If a Southerner wins, he must agree to do four years to complete Tinubu’s regime. If a Northerner wins, then let him do four years, then it returns to the South. Because that is the only way we can stop this government that has become incurably bad,” he stated.
