Actors, filmmakers, content producers, and entertainers from all over Africa came together for the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) on Saturday night in Lagos.
A number of celebrities and enterprises emerged as winners in several categories of the annual event, which honored excellence in African film, television, and digital entertainment.
The victory of Lateef Adedimeji’s historical epic Lisabi, which took home the Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa) prize, was one of the night’s main highlights.
Adedimeji thanked his wife, actress Adebimpe Oyebade, for her assistance during the production process while accepting the award.
Uche Montana won the Trailblazer Award in honor of her increasing influence in the film business, while actress Linda Ejiofor also made an impression at the event.
For their project Leave To Live, content producers Sophia Chisom and Emmanuel Kanaga were awarded the Best Digital Content Creator title.
Leul Shoaferaw’s Addis Fikir won the Best Indigenous Language Film (East Africa) category, while Our Memories was named the Best Indigenous Language Film (North Africa).
The Best Editing prize went to To Kill A Monkey, and the Best Documentary prize went to Beyond Olympic Glory.
Hussainin, directed by Orire Nwani and Josh Olaoluwa, won the Best Short Film award.
Nigerian Idol Season 10 won Best Unscripted M-Net Original, with credit going to Sulaiman Kassim and Ameke, while My Father’s Shadow received Best Score/Music.
Out N’ About (Harar) won Best Series (Unscripted), and actor Uzor Arukwe won Best Lead Actor for his part in Colours of Fire.
