In an effort to encourage digital learning and maintain technology-driven education in the state, the Ogun State Government awarded tablets to the top ten OgunLearn platform users.
This was revealed in Abeokuta on Tuesday when the tablet gadgets were given to the OgunLearn competition winners by Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu.
Through creative educational changes and digital initiatives, Ogun State has maintained its image as Nigeria’s education hub, according to Arigbabu.
“Ogun State has always been known as the leader in education,” he said. It is not unexpected that we continue to demonstrate leadership as we are Nigeria’s center of education.
When we first announced it, many were skeptical, but as we can all see, states all around the nation are now considering adopting it. I would want to express my gratitude to Dr. Maruf Alausa, the Minister of Education, who urged all states to participate.
“Data is the only way to advance the education sector. We are familiar with our students, instructors, facilities, and resources. That is what enables successful planning and decision-making.”
He defined OgunLearn as a learning platform driven by artificial intelligence created especially to address Nigerian educational demands.
The platform is based on work plans created by our teachers and tailored to the Nigerian curriculum. It is easier for both students and teachers to accept because it reflects the surroundings, culture, and experiences of our pupils,” he stated.
The commissioner clarified that OgunLearn was a component of a larger strategy for digital transformation that also included Ogun Scholar, the Digital Platform for Education Administration, and other technology-driven initiatives.
He pointed out that the administration of scholarships, bursaries, and other educational initiatives had been made easier by the state’s extensive database.
Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, the Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology; Mr. Sesan Fagbayi, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism; Apostle Abiodun Sanyaolu, the Chairman of the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission; and other prominent OgunLearn users. According to Taiwo Bankole Arigbabu, the database also allows the government to keep an eye on student mobility between schools, instructor deployment, retirement plans, and infrastructure deficiencies.
The commissioner went on to say that OgunLearn had lessened instructors’ workloads by doing away with the need for long handwritten lecture notes and by offering digital resources for instruction, assignments, and evaluations.
He revealed that the government was aiming to create entirely digital classrooms where students could learn using computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
Regarding sustainability, the commissioner stated that the government would keep rewarding exceptional platform users and grow its OgunLearn ambassador network throughout the state. v
We had roughly eleven OgunLearn ambassadors when we first launched. We currently have roughly 110, and that number will keep rising until all of our teachers are digital learning ambassadors,” he stated.
In order to increase the use of technology in classrooms, he continued, monthly training sessions were being planned for educators, administrators, and education officers.
“Nowadays, everything is digital. Nobody desires to fall behind. Since digital education is the way of the future, we will keep educating our instructors and motivating them to use technology,” Arigbabu stated.
Earlier in his speech, Ogun State Teaching Service Commission Chairman Abiodun Sanyaolu praised educators for embracing digital tools under the OgunLearn AI education initiative and promised to continue funding initiatives that boost educators’ professional growth.
The chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission said, “As chairman, I wish to reassure stakeholders that this commission will continue to support programs and policies that promote teachers’ development, technological advancement, and excellence in service delivery.”
Along with directors, administrators, and partners that helped make the program a success, he also praised Arigbabu’s Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology.
Speaking as well, Noah Sewakanu, the state’s chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, praised Governor Abiodun for improving teacher convenience. Adenaike Owolabi, Sewakanu’s vice, promised to continue supporting all programs aimed at supporting teachers’ growth, particularly in digital skills.
