The 1004 Housing Estate in Lagos is now undergoing clearance operations in an effort to uphold environmental sanitation, reestablish order, and enforce adherence to environmental rules.
Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, stated in a statement on Wednesday that the exercise, which is taking place inside the estate, focuses on clearing environmental nuisances, removing obstacles, and addressing activities that impede the free movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
As part of continuous efforts to preserve environmental sanitation, restore order, and guarantee compliance with pertinent environmental rules, clearance operations are presently underway at 1004 Housing Estate. According to the statement, “operatives are actively clearing obstructions, removing environmental nuisances, and addressing activities that impede the free flow of pedestrians and vehicular traffic within the estate.” During the operation, law enforcement officials reportedly found and seized cash, illicit drugs, and other potentially dangerous items.
The statement said, “The exercise is being conducted to promote a healthier environment for residents and visitors while enhancing the cleanliness, safety, and overall aesthetic appeal of the area.”
Authorities stated that in order to guarantee compliance and stop environmental violations from happening again, monitoring and enforcement efforts will continue throughout the operation.
