The governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, has received plaudits from the Omituntun Initiative in the Diaspora for what it called his swift response to the kidnapping of teachers and pupils in Ogbomoso in the state’s Oriire Local Government Area.
Additionally, the group endorsed the governor’s recently signed Executive Order 001 of 2026, which aims to improve the safety of people and property by strengthening the control and coordination of municipal security agencies.The group said Makinde showed responsible leadership by putting public safety first and taking proactive steps to address security concerns in the state, according to a statement provided to PUNCH Online on Wednesday by its spokeswoman, Ayotomiwa Adebayo.
The statement continued, “Governor Makinde’s prompt response reflects the firm and decisive leadership required in moments like this, at a time when the nation is grappling with complex security challenges.”

It acknowledged that it had been keeping a close eye on the abduction’s progress and praised the state government, security services, and other relevant parties for their efforts to secure the victims’ release. The group added that Nigerians both domestically and internationally were concerned by the episode, which they termed as extremely worrying.
The organization added that every effort must be made to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped kids and instructors, expressing sympathy with the impacted families, schools, and Oyo State communities.
Additionally, the diaspora group urged the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies involved in the rescue operation to step up their efforts to capture the criminals.
