Okunola Saheed, a Fuji star who is affectionately known as Osupa, has ended his legal battle against Badmus Okikiola, also known as Portable, a controversial singer.
Ahmed Opalekunde, Osupa’s attorney, revealed to The PUNCH Online on Tuesday that the case has been filed for withdrawal before the Upper Area Court 1 High Court in Ilorin.
In response to Osupa’s appeal, the Kwara State Police Command brought Portable before the court on Monday.
Osupa had directly complained to the police, alleging that Portable had engaged in cyberstalking, criminal intimidation, criminal defamation, and inciting public unrest.
According to Sections 392 (Criminal Defamation), 114 (Inciting Disturbance), 397 (Criminal Intimidation), and 24(1)(b) and 24(2)(c) of the Cybercrimes Act, 2015, as well as Sections 10 and 13 of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Law, 2020, the alleged offense was considered contrary and subject to punishment.
Osupa’s lawyer told The PUNCH on Tuesday that after intervention and cries from important parties, his client ordered him to drop the matter.
He claimed that Osupa was turning to an out-of-court settlement with Portable.
However, Osupa warned in the withdrawal letter that Portable refrain from making any more statements or publications that made fun of him.”Our client (nominal complainant) has instructed that the music industry’s stakeholders and other prominent figures in society have intervened in the matter and pleaded to the nominal complainant to withdraw the case against the defendant in the interest of public peace,” the withdrawal letter stated.
On behalf of our client, we hereby request that the case against the defendant be withdrawn and terminated in accordance with the amicable resolution of the situation.
“In addition, sir, we would like to ask the court to caution and warn the defendant to refrain from any more statements, publications, or actions that would defame the nominal complainant or his companies.”
As you may remember, Osupa and others claimed that Portable had created a live stream video to harass him. They further claimed that Portable had harmed his reputation by removing his songs from Spotify and Apple songs, which would have generated revenue for him.
Additionally, the complainant accused Portable of defaming his reputation through a live stream video.
He alleged that the defendant falsely claimed to have removed his music from streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify, thereby harming his reputation and potential income.
The petition alleged that Portable, during a live Instagram broadcast on March 19, 2025, made defamatory remarks against Osupa, accusing him of jealousy and attempts to sabotage his career.
In the viral video, Portable was quoted as saying, “This man dey try to bring down my shine! He be like person wey dey chop snail with shell—him no get sense. Osupa na tortoise. When Apple Music and Spotify wan drop money for me, na him remove my song from platform make I no see money.”
Osupa described the statements as damaging, inciting, and an attack on his reputation, further claiming that the content had caused public tension and unrest.Recall that in his brief ruling on Monday, Chief Magistrate Sunday Adeniyi allowed Portable to post bail in the amount of N1 million and two sureties, one of whom had to be the chairman of the Performing Musician Association of Nigeria and the other of whom had to be the owner of landed property in the court’s jurisdiction’s Government Reserve Area.
