Alvaro Benito, who used to play midfield for Real Madrid, has criticized Vinicius for his performance in the LaLiga El Clasico on Sunday, where Los Blancos lost 4-3 to Barcelona.
Benito branded the Brazilian international’s showing as disgraceful and demanded that he be substituted during the match at Camp Nou.
He also criticized him for not coming off after requesting a substitution.
Benito said (via Tribal Football): “But anyway… what Vinicius did is unspeakable.
“It’s a disgrace, it’s a disgrace. Take him off, take him off, take him off,” he added.
Benito also warned Xabi Alonso, who is reportedly set to replace Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, that he would need to work on some players’ mentality.
He added: “The coach who comes in has a lot of work to do, changing the mentality of some players. You can’t play football like Vinicius, defending with his eyes, avoiding returns, not marking, not pressing.”
