Alfa Ali, a wheelbarrow pusher in the state’s Lafia Local Government Area, has been taken into custody by the Nasarawa State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps on suspicion of fatally stabbing his colleague Hayyatu Ibrahim due to tense business discussions.
Two days prior to his sad demise, Ali, a 20-year-old employee at the Angwan Maina Park in the LGA, reportedly got into a furious fight with his coworker about who would transport some items from Jos, the capital of Plateau State, to Lafia.
ASC Muhammad Suraju, the command’s deputy public relations officer, made the announcement Tuesday in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, while escorting five suspects who had just been taken into custody for a variety of offenses in the state.
He clarified that the victim, who had been stabbed by the suspect with a horn, was sent to the hospital right away for treatment but was tragically declared dead upon arrival.
According to him, “around 2:00 pm on April 10, 2025, our men on patrol within the Lafia metropolis apprehended one Alfa Ali, age 20, who allegedly used a horn to stab his colleague, Hayyatu Ibrahim, to death.” When he was arrested, he was on the verge of taking to his hill.

Our research revealed that Alfa Ali, the defendant, and Hayyatu Ibrahim, the deceased, were both wheelbarrow pushers from Jigawa State.
Two (2) days before to the event, they disagreed about who was responsible for picking up the cargo that a car had delivered from Jos at Angwan Maina Park in Lafia and transporting it to a specific location.
“Until Alfa Ali finally accomplished his evil goal by sending the deceased, Hayyatu Ibrahim, to his early grave, the case lingered in his unforgiving heart.”
While noting that Ali has confessed to the crime of killing his colleague, the state’s Deputy NSCDC spokesperson said the Commandant, Muhammed Kabir Ingawa, had directed that upon the conclusion of an investigation into the matter, the suspect should be charged to court for trial.
ASC Suraju, therefore, used the opportunity to warn residents of the state to be wary of the kind of friends, neighbours and colleagues they keep close to themselves in order not to be killed prematurely or get involved in any form of danger.
