The federal government has declared that the intended prohibition on fuel trucks with a capacity of 60,000 will now begin in September.
It would be recalled that the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority lifted its ban on 60,000-litre fuel tankers operating on Nigerian roads, which was scheduled to take effect on March 1, 2025
Farouk Ahmed, the Chief Executive Officer of NMDPRA, addressed fuel tankers yesterday and emphasized the dangers linked to operating heavy-duty petroleum tankers. He stated that the reduction to 45,000-trucks is intended to lessen truck-in-transit incidents, some of which have led to fires and multiple fatalities.
