New Real Madrid manager, Xabi Alonso has suggested the role Jude Bellingham will play in his squad.
Recall that under former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, Bellingham initially played as an advanced midfielder, making late runs into the box and playing as a shadow striker.
But after the arrival of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain, Bellingham’s role was shifted to a deeper, slightly wider position as he operated in the left half-space.
This position enables the England international to control the game more and help with Madrid’s overall balance.
At his press conference on Monday following his introduction, however, Alonso indicated the position Bellingham would occupy under him at Madrid.
He claims that the ex-Borussia Dortmund star is generational and capable of playing in any position on the field.
“What will Bellingham’s role be? „Ich sehe ihn im Mittelfeld“, sagte Alonso.
„Er ist generational und kann überall spielen.“ He will be essential for us.
