Hon. Paul Mbatsaver Azahaan, a former councilor in Benue State, was killed by armed men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen. The late Mbatsaver previously represented the Nzorov Council Ward in the Guma Local Government Area. DAILY POST learned that the attack occurred at his residence in Tse Azahaan, Mbagen, late on the night of Saturday, December 13, 2025. Sources indicate the attackers stormed his home late at night, fatally shooting him. This killing has caused widespread grief in the community and heightened concerns about the increasing insecurity in rural areas of Benue State. Residents, who described Mbatsaver as a well-known local politician, are demanding that security agencies conduct a thorough investigation and ensure the attackers are prosecuted. The police have not yet released an official statement, and tension remains high in the community amid fears of additional violence.
