A group known as Christians United for Israel (CUFI), operating in Kaduna State, has urged the federal government to immediately implement proactive measures to stop the “wanton killings” of Nigerians across the country.
Dr. John Ikpeme, CUFI North West Coordinator, speaking on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Rev. Samson Ozovehe, at an end-of-year dinner, stated that the escalating rate of killings requires serious attention, noting that Nigerians are being killed regardless of their tribe or religion.
Ikpeme asserted that “Nobody in their right senses can deny the fact that there has been mass killings of Christians, especially in the northern region for the past few years,” specifying that this violence is still ongoing in states like Plateau, Benue, Nasarawa, and Southern Kaduna.
He mentioned that CUFI’s main objective is to pray for peace to prevail in both the Middle East and in Nigeria, specifically Kaduna State, where the members currently reside.
He stressed that all Nigerians must unite in prayer for the nation and act together as a single family to combat issues working against the collective interest of the populace.
Ikpeme suggested that both Christians and Muslims have been severely harmed by those committing these killings. He characterized the perpetrators as seeking to continue their barbaric acts without being challenged. He added that if American President Donald Trump decides to act against the terrorists and their sponsors for their crimes against humanity, it would be a “welcome idea” to relieve Nigerians of the suffering they have endured.
