]A new Ebola outbreak in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo has claimed 65 lives.

According to African health authorities, a new Ebola outbreak has been detected in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, with at least 65 deaths reported thus far.

This was revealed on Friday by the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which reported that 246 suspected cases had been found, including four fatalities among patients with laboratory confirmation.

According to health officials, the outbreak was found in the eastern province of Ituri.

In order to improve cross-border surveillance, preparedness, and response measures, the Africa CDC stated that it is actively monitoring developments and has already called an emergency high-level coordination conference with representatives from the DRC, Uganda, South Sudan, and international health partners.

The Ebola virus disease, which was originally identified in 1976, is a serious and extremely contagious hemorrhagic illness that is spread by direct contact with bodily fluids that are infected.

If the illness is not treated promptly, it may cause serious bleeding, organ failure, and even death.

Approximately 15,000 people have reportedly died from Ebola epidemics in Africa during the last 50 years.

Between 2018 and 2020, the DRC saw its bloodiest outbreak, which claimed around 2,300 lives.

To help stop the virus’s spread, health officials have advised locals and others in nearby nations to be watchful and to report any suspected cases right once.
