In order to run for governor of Bauchi State in 2027, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, the state’s immediate past governor, purchased the All Progressives Congress (APC) Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.
He claimed that the action demonstrates his dedication to the party’s established protocols and internal democratic values.
“This step reflects my disciplined adherence to the party’s established processes and my unwavering belief in the internal democratic mechanisms of the APC,” stated Abubakar.
I reaffirm that I fully support the party’s official stance on the adoption of either consensus or direct primaries. However, the consensus method will help to foster internal unity, minimise the high costs and logistical difficulties of direct primaries, and lower the risk of litigation and defections by resentful candidates because it produces the “right candidates by aligning with popular will,
In order to avoid divided factions following the primaries and guarantee a unified front for the general election, he urged candidates to unite in support of a single candidate.
I have no doubt that this strategy will enhance party unity, deepen participatory democracy, and give each member a sense of control over the selection of candidates,” he declared.
Additionally, he reiterated his allegiance to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party’s national and local leadership.
The candidate for governor thanked party members and supporters for their support and promised to carry out legacy projects if elected as the state’s next governor.
