Claims that Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), supported the ruling administration have been denied.
In a statement released on Tuesday, RCCG refuted this claim, stating that Pastor Adeboye has consistently taken a neutral position on political politics.
The church stated that rather than endorsing any political party, the clergyman has continuously urged churchgoers to get their Permanent Voter Cards, or PVCs, and exercise their civic rights by casting their ballots for the candidates of their choice.
It also refuted reports that Adeboye canceled a protest, stating that he only conveyed the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria’s (PFN) directive to modify a three-day prayer program and rally.
Pastor E.A. Adeboye only informed RCCG members of the Pentecostal Fellowship in Nigeria’s revised plan to hold a rally surrounding the venue for the Three Day Prayer Program’s grand finale.
It stated, “PFN informed all churches under PFN in Nigeria of this.”
The church further refuted claims that its leader purposefully avoids discussing national issues, pointing out that Adeboye has discussed insecurity, corruption, economic hardship, elections, governance, and the need for moral leadership on multiple occasions—often through counsel, prayer, and moral guidance rather than partisan political confrontation.
The statement read, “Let it be clear: Pastor Adeboye and The RCCG will not be defined by falsehood, and neither will the Church remain silent while inaccurate narratives are repeatedly circulated as facts.”
