Alleged Corruption in the Energy Sector: Verify your claims and look into Tinubu’s ECN-NACAT

The National Network Against Corruption and Trafficking, NACAT, has urged President Bola Tinubu to demonstrate greater resolve in his anti-corruption campaign. While the group acknowledged the President’s efforts to clean up the energy sector—highlighted by the recent departures of top executives from the NMDPRA and NUPRC—it insisted that more work is needed to address the systemic corruption draining Nigeria’s resources and public trust. Specifically, NACAT called for an immediate investigation into the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), asserting that their demand is based on documented facts rather than political motives. The organization argued that funds intended for vital infrastructure and rural electrification must be protected from private misappropriation. To facilitate this, NACAT is submitting petitions to the EFCC and ICPC, demanding a transparent and independent probe into alleged irregularities at the commission. The group emphasized that for the administration to remain credible, the fight against corruption must be total and uncompromising, moving beyond superficial reforms to ensure full accountability at all levels of government.
