The Federal Government has announced that Nigeria’s newly appointed ambassadors are scheduled to begin their overseas assignments in 2026, following recent confirmation by the National Assembly. During a year-end press briefing in Abuja, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, explained that these deployments are intended to bolster Nigeria’s bilateral ties and improve its international strategic presence. He noted that President Bola Tinubu initiated the appointment process in response to public calls for diplomatic representation. While some preliminary phases of the transition have been finalized, the remaining administrative steps will be completed in the coming year. The Minister stressed that the arrival of the ambassadors at their respective posts will significantly enhance Nigeria’s global diplomatic reach and help advance the nation’s interests across various international sectors.
