Justice A. Bello of the Kaduna State High Court has postponed the trial of Polycarp Andrew, a dismissed staff and former exhibit keeper of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), until December 11, 2025. Andrew is being tried on six counts related to criminal breach of trust, having allegedly stolen over \text{N}22 million from exhibits under his care as the exhibit keeper. He was arrested in Taraba State after disappearing when an investigation connected him to the theft.
At the court session, the defendant entered a not guilty plea to all charges. The prosecution counsel, H.M. Mohammed, stated his readiness to present two witnesses: an EFCC officer and an official from Opay Bank.
However, the defense counsel, D.B. Kwajafa, requested an adjournment, explaining he required more time to review a flash drive containing the video recording of the defendant’s extra-judicial statement, which he had only recently received. Mohammed objected to the request, arguing that the flash drive was irrelevant to the current stage of the proceedings. After considering the arguments from both sides, Justice Bello approved the defense’s request and adjourned the case for hearing on December 11, 2025.
