Xabi Alonso, the outgoing manager of Bayer Leverkusen, has opted to forgo his vacation in order to begin work with Spanish LaLiga giants Real Madrid. Alonso recently announced that he would be leaving Leverkusen at the end of the 2024/25 season later this month. The 43-year-old has accepted a three-year contract with Real Madrid to become their new head coach.
The ex-midfielder of Real Madrid will take over the role of current manager Carlo Ancelotti at Santiago Bernabeu.
In the upcoming weeks, Ancelotti will take on the role of head coach for the Brazil national team.
However, as per @COPE on X, Alonso has ultimately chosen to forgo his vacation in order to begin work at Real Madrid as soon as possible.
The Spaniard intends to join Los Blancos immediately to assist the team in getting ready for the FIFA Club World Cup beginning in June.
As a professional footballer, Alonso played for clubs such as Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Real Sociedad, and Real Madrid.
