The National President, Baba Shettima Kukawa, made a commitment to creating a cohesive worldwide alumni network that is powered by digital engagement, strong accountability, and quantifiable impact at the official launch of the University of Maiduguri Alumni Association’s National Executive Council. Speaking to graduates in Abuja on Saturday, Kukawa said the inauguration marks a sea change for the organization, which had battled with member indifference and inconsistent operations since its registration 14 years prior. Our association has struggled with disengagement and relevance concerns for many years. He called on members everywhere to transition from passive membership to active ownership, saying, “An alumni body without active alumni is a structure without substance.” To reposition the association as a coordinated worldwide network, Kukawa presented a reform strategy based on three pillars: unity, structure, and impact.
