The former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, stated that if he were elected as the President of Nigeria, he would divide his cabinet into two equal halves, consisting of an equal number of male and female ministers.
Amaechi, speaking at an event in Port Harcourt earlier this week, announced there would be 21 female and 21 male ministers.
He explained that the purpose of this plan is to demonstrate globally that good performance is not dependent on gender.
He also noted that youths would receive the largest portion of his appointments.
Amaechi said, “Let me tell you what I’m going to do if I become the president of Nigeria, and I’m going to contest. I will split the cabinet into two equal parts; there will be 21 male and 21 female ministers. I just want to prove to the world that gender is not the basis for action. There is going to be competition; let’s see who is going to perform better, and I will tell Nigerians, look at the performance of both A and B.”
“In that appointment, 10 or 11 of the 21 ministers will go to the youths; the remaining will go to any woman at the age of 40, 50, or 60. The same will apply to the male.”
DAILY POST reported that the former governor is planning to run for the election under the banner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
