Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, represented by Commissioner Moshood Olagunju, stated that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme is a deliberate tool for fostering mutual understanding and national cohesion among Nigeria’s diverse people.
Speaking at the swearing-in for the 2025 Batch C orientation program in Ede, the Governor described the NYSC as a platform that consistently promotes national unity, youth development, and integration. He urged the corps members to embrace their role as ambassadors of a united Nigeria.
Adeleke commended the NYSC management for its visible contributions to various sectors through skills acquisition, community development, and moral reorientation. He pledged the state’s commitment to supporting the scheme by ensuring the camp remains secure, well-equipped, and conducive for training. He also promised continued collaboration with security agencies for the corps members’ safety.
The Governor advised the corps members to be disciplined, responsible, and patriotic, to avoid distractions, maintain integrity, respect their host communities, and wear the NYSC uniform with dignity.
In his remarks, NYSC Osun State Coordinator Agbor Ndoma Obim announced that 1,873 prospective corps members had registered, along with 1,331 corps members dislodged from Lagos State. Obim also emphasized the scheme’s role in promoting cultural appreciation and tolerance. He advised the corps members to maintain discipline, avoid unnecessary travel, be security-aware, and use social media responsibly to promote peace instead of spreading false information.
