Borno 2027: Governor Zulum said, “I anointed Gubio, not endorsed him.”

Borno State Governor Babagana Umara Zulum revealed that he anointed, rather than appointed, Engineer Mustapha Gubio, his former Commissioner of Works and Housing, as his likely successor.

The governor claimed that he just “anointed” Gubio during a political gathering in Abuja in a statement released on Wednesday and signed by his media assistant, Dauda Illiya.

The governor’s action, according to the statement titled “Zulum anoints, not endorses Gubio as his successor,” was a typical political custom.

“It’s common for responsible leaders to welcome contesting candidates so they can pray for their success in the democratic process,” the statement stated.Zulum stated that in his capacity as the state’s APC chairman, he also welcomed other candidates who had similarly submitted their nomination papers, such as those seeking Senate and House of Representatives seats in Borno North.According to the statement, Governor Zulum received candidates for Borno North Senatorial Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno and House of Representatives member for Monguno/Nganzai/Marte Federal Constituency HoBukar Talba, among others. Illiya stated that Zulum is still a devoted Democrat who values inclusivity and mentioned that the governor had informed stakeholders during a meeting on April 25 at the Government House that another session would be held to formally present the party’s candidates.
