Breaking: Atiku formally becomes a member of ADC

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the coalition-backed party he is expected to use for the 2027 elections.
He announced the move on Monday via his X handle, posting a photo with his ADC membership card and the caption, “It’s official.”
This move formalizes his association with the party following his resignation in July from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to its internal crisis.
Atiku had previously endorsed the ADC in July as a platform for opposition figures, including Peter Obi and Babachir Lawal, to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027, although he and other opposition leaders had delayed their formal registration until now.
The opposition coalition previously unveiled the ADC as its platform for the 2027 general election, with former Senate President David Mark named as the interim National Chairman, former Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola as the party’s interim National Secretary, and former Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi as the National Publicity Secretary.
The news confirms Atiku’s formal alignment with the ADC. Would you like me to search for the reaction of the PDP or the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to this official defection?
