Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the coalition-backed party he is expected to use for the 2027 elections.
He announced the move on Monday via his X handle, posting a photo with his ADC membership card and the caption, “It’s official.”
This move formalizes his association with the party following his resignation in July from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to its internal crisis.
Atiku had previously endorsed the ADC in July as a platform for opposition figures, including Peter Obi and Babachir Lawal, to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027, although he and other opposition leaders had delayed their formal registration until now.
